Melissa Tovaas is the Director of Education for School Services of Montana. In this role, she leads the work of the Montana Educational Curriculum Consortium (MECC) and facilitates professional learning through statewide and regional events as well as school-based professional learning and coaching for teachers. Melissa began her 20+ years in education as an elementary/special education teacher and has continued her work supporting Montana educators. She currently chairs the new state alliance, SEL4MT, and provides professional learning on behalf of SSoM and the Center for the Collaborative Classroom, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating hearts and minds. Melissa works with educators to support implementation of best practices in curriculum design, literacy, social and emotional learning, STEM, and beyond.
